INFRASTRUCTURE

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering owns 3 teaching halls and 7 laboratories for teaching purposes. All the halls and laboratories correspond to the quality standards: area, condition, volume, health & safety, equipment.

The teaching halls detain projectors, video-projectors and projection screens.

The teaching laboratories are endowed according to their specific activity:

Laboratory of GENERAL CHEMISSTRY and INORGANIC CHEMISTR – ROOM E11

Separation and purification of inorganic substances,, demonstration of the fundamental laws of chemistry, determination of physical/chemical properties of substances and inorganic materials, sythesis and analysis of inorganic compunds, synthesis and analysis of complex combination

Laboratoryof ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY – ROOM E12

Gravimetric analysis, volumetric analysis, potentiometric measurements, conductometric measurements, refractometry, UV-VIS spectrometry, chromatography (column, thin layer, ion-exchange).

Laboratory of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY – ROOM E16

Organic synthesis, separation and purification of organic compounds, electrosynthesis of organic compounds, identification of organic compounds, determination of melting points of organic compounds, quantitative determination of volatile oils from vegetable products.

Laboratory of PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY and ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION -ROOM P9

Ebulliosopy, cryoscopy, determination of  dissolution and reaction entalpies, kinetic studies, corrosion studies, anticorrosion protection, studies of water depollution by coagulation-flocullation, biochemical water treatment, analysis of organic and inorganic polutants in water and consumption goods.

Laboratory of PETROLEUM PROCESSING and HYDRODYNAMICS- ROOM P10

Micropilot for thermal cracking.; micropilot for catalytic cracking; micropilot for catalytic reforming/ hydrogenation/ isomerization; TBP distillation of crude oil; ASTM distillation of petroleum fractions; vacuum distillation of residue from atmospheric distillation(KOEHLER); viscosimeters ( ENGLER, SAYBOLT,  UBBELOHDE); colorimeteres (SAYBOLT, LOVIBOND, UNION); flash point (PENSKY MARTENS, MARCUSSON); determination of sulphur in black products; determination of water in petroleum products (KARL FISCHER); corrosion tests on copper plate; determination of vapor pressure(REID); determination of softening point (ring-ball method); determination of smokeless flame height; centrifuge-460 R; refractometer.

Installation for the Reynolds experiment; installation for local pressure losses; instalation for pressure los in granular layers; elutriation; apparatus for the study of liquids in field of centrifugal forces; micropilot for the mixing study.

Laboratory of  UNIT OPERATIONS – ROOM E13

Liquid-vapor equilibrium apparatus; batch distillation; fractionation column;  study of stripping; absorption; liquid-liquid extraction (ELGIN column); wet-wall column for mass transfer coeffient determination;  ORSAT apparatus for flue gas analysis; installation for the study of condensation; thermostat JULABO(-50oC), Refractometer Abbe.

Laboratory of PETROCHEMICALTECHNOLOGY, HEAT TRANSFER, REACTIONS ENGINEERING, CORROSION and THERMODYNAMICS – ROOM E14

Micropilot for formic aldehyde obtaining; micropilot for fat acids obtaining; obtaining of resins in batch; analysis of polymers; oven (1000oC); densimeter DMA 4500 Anton Parr; viscosimeter Anton Parr, ebulioscope; test bench for continuos reactors ; jacketed reactor; ORSAT apparatus for flue gas analysis; cooling tower; air cooling exchanger; stand for the study of heat exchangers.

The Department of Physics and Electronics shares 3 teaching halls with Chemistry and owns 10 laboratories for teaching.

Electromagnet 2 T; Cryostat Oxford (temperature between 4,2 K -500 K) ; Temperature  regulator Spectrolab; Storage vessel for liquid Helium pentru He (30 L); High sensibility digital Gaussmeter Lakeshore Crytronics; Digital nanovoltmeter Hewlett-Packard;  Vacuum instalation 10-6 torr and instalation for deposition of thin films; Monocromator Karl Zeiss Jena.

Laboratory of PLASMA PHYSICS AND TECHNOLOGY

Installation for vacuum/gas loading in metal- glass configuration with vacuum pump and diffusion pump Edwards, high tension source 3000V, Pirani and Penning gauges for pressure measurement, He- Ne laser, osciloscope

Laboratory of MATERIAL NONDESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION AND ULTRASONIC MICROSCOPY

Performant microscopy installation, gamma tomographyc system, Xray generator, magnetic examinations and penetrant liquid examination.

Laboratory of HYBRID MATERIALS (ORGANIC-INORGANIC) AND 3RD GENERATION SOLAR CELLS

Solar simulator AM1.5 with Xenon lamp, system for the electro-optical characterization of solar cells, Signal generator 0-10MHz Hameg and osciloscope Hameg, spin-coater, high performance computing system, spectrophotometer, radiophotometer.

Optical benches, a large range of light sources, a large range of mirrors, plane parallel blades ,plane and spherical diopters, optical  prisms, a large range of lens, magnetic disk Hartl and magnetic screen, kit of Young devices, unit for the study of  Newton rings, Fresnel biprism, kit of slits, kit of difraction reticules,  telescopes, binoculars, cameras, projaction devices, goniometer, refractometer Abbe, benches for the sudy of light intensity, illuminance and reflection of light, multimeters, photodetectors, luxmeters, polroids, polariscope, Laurent polarimeter, spectroscopes with prisms, reticule spectrosopes, a large range of lamps, photocolorimeter.

Laboratory of OPTOELECTRONICS

Optical benches, a large range of light sources, benches for the sudy of light intensity, illuminance and reflection of light, multimeters, luxmemetrs,, photoelectric cells, solar cells with Silicon, solar cells with pigments, photodetectors, diodes, optocupling systems, units for the study of the optical transimission, detection and alarm, control systems.

Laboratory of MOLECULAR PHYSICS AND THERMODYNAMICS

Balances, psichrometer, barometer, electronic thermometers, cronometers, viscosimeters,stalagmometers, dilatometer, calorimeters, thermostat, experimental benches for the study of gases law, latent heat, phase transformation, thermal yield, calorific power, specific heat capacity of metals.

Appart of the teaching laboratories, the faculty detains research facilities in 3 laboratories

Laboratory of  ELECTRONIC MICROSCOPY

Electronic microscope with transmission CM 120 Philips. Resolution power 210–10m, magnifying range: 35 – 1 200 000, difraction: 18-4300mm, with ultra- deep vacuum and crimioscopy options, protected by UPS IMV D-31model 15kV

Laboratory of SPECTROMETRY

Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Shimadzu, Japan, AA 6200 equipped with hydride generator and ppb resolution.
