History

The FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING was set up by the Romanian Government Resolution No 866/21.10.1999 and the present name was established by the Romanian Government Resolution No 493/2013. Actually, the faculty carries on a tradition which started in 1961 with a study programme named “Physics & Chemistry” followed in 1977 by the programme “Petroleum Processing and Petrochemistry”. The present structure of the Faculty was approved by the Romanian Government Resolution No 749/24.06.2009, all the courses being either accredited or authorized.

The faculty has a special dynamic by increasing the number of its programmes and students, including now five programmes at undergraduate level and four at master degree. These are modern programmes, adapted to the European standards in higher education in accordance with the work market requirements. Teaching and research infrastructure isin process of development and modernization thus making possible a good training for the graduates. Computers and office equipment are at good level and the students have access to the faculty’s computers, intranet fast transmission network and connection to internet.

Our graduates are prepared to face a challenging environment. The emphasis is on creativity, flexibility, adaptability, interdiciplinarity-as planned in a knowledge based society.
